The Youth Center began and was established in the community in the late 1970's. After years of operating, The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation was entrusted with the continued development of this community pillar. After a 2 Year renovation project, the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation's Youth Center is now a modernized community youth facility that offers an abundance of enrichment programs and activities for children and teens. After being fully renovated and reopening to the community on April 17, 2021, the Youth Center now serves as a hub for Roosevelt Island's young residents to socialize, learn new skills, stay active, and be part of the local community beyond regular school hours.
At the Roosevelt Island Youth Center, our mission is to empower and inspire the youth of our community to become confident, compassionate, and capable leaders of tomorrow. We are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where young individuals can discover their potential, build essential life skills, and develop a strong sense of social responsibility. Through education, mentorship, and a wide range of engaging programs, we strive to foster personal growth, creativity, and a commitment to positive change in our community.
Our aim is to ensure that every young person who walks through our doors is equipped with the knowledge, values, and opportunities needed to thrive, make a difference, and shape a brighter future for Roosevelt Island.
