Youth Center Frequently Asked Questions
To enroll in the Roosevelt Island Youth Center program, you must register your child on the rioc.ny.gov website. Once on the website you go to community tab and select "open the youth center" and from there you can fill out the registration form.
The hours of operation during the school year are 3pm-6pm, while the summer program hours are 9am-5pm. Parents that are experiencing delays during pick-up should immediately contact Youth Center leadership via phone call, text or email.

The Youth Center serves the ages 7 to 18 years old.
The Youth Center is structured environment that offers arts, recreational, and enrichment activities. We provide high energy activities at various locations such as Sportspark, Blackwell Park, Firefighter field, and Capobianco field for recreational activities and special events.
Yes, the Youth Center offers several quiet spaces for participants to complete their homework and the use of computers/internet access to accommodate homework.
Yes, the Youth Center offers dry snacks daily.
Essentially, participants under 4th grade are not allowed to leave on their own from the center unless under special circumstances. Written authorization must be sent to the Youth Center Director notifying that the child will be allowed to leave on their own from youth center.
There is a limit on participants leaving and entering the center multiple times in a single day. Generally, the rule is participants are only allowed to check-in and check-out 1 time and after that point, once the participants check out, they are dismissed for the entire day. There is exception for extenuating circumstances, which should be communicated to the Director to seek approval.
